It is with special gratitude to Mary Schorman, retired school nurse and founder of Hospice of Warren County’s bereavement services, that The Schorman Center ~ A Place for Healing Grief and Loss ~ is named.
From Hospice of Warren County’s beginning in 1979, Mary Schorman has had a passion for the bereavement needs of not only the patients and their families, but for non-Hospice neighbors in need of bereavement support in the general community as well.
Mary’s commitment to bereavement care was evidenced early by her pursuit of certification by the internationally renowned Thanatology experts of the Association of Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).
Mary achieved national certification in grief counseling by ADEC in 1999, thereby establishing Hospice of Warren County’s bereavement standard of excellence in grief support. She has earned the title of “Mrs. Grief” from the many Warren County School District students whom she has counseled. Mary has served on both the Hospice of Warren County Advisory Committee and the governing Board of Directors.
